Year 3 experienced life as early explorers on board the Endeavour.

On Wednesday 22 March, Year 3 caught a bus to the city where we had the privilege of going to the National Maritime Museum to visit the replica of Captain Cook’s ship the Endeavour.

It was amazing to put into perspective all the things we have been learning about in History this term. Students were able to hear about world exploration and how the early navigators, explorers and traders impacted Australia. They got to see and touch artefacts and hear some interesting, if not “gruesome”, tales of our early explorers and settlers.

Getting to board the Endeavour was definitely a highlight for students and teachers alike. It gave everyone a real feel for how difficult and arduous life would have been for our early explorers. It made us very thankful for the modern era that we live in today but also extremely grateful to these men and women who gave up so much so that we could live in our wonderful Australia.

A big thankyou to all our amazing parent helpers who came along and made this excursion such a successful occasion.
