Applications
Enrolment numbers are steadily increasing. Therefore, parents need to act promptly by submitting an Application as early as possible. A Prospectus and Application form can be sent to any family – simply ring the School Office on 9677 2455. There is an application fee of $50. Each application is placed on a waiting list.
When submitting an Application Form, parents are requested to make available to the School copies of their child’s previous School Reports (where applicable) and other reports which relate to their learning ability and achievement. For children younger than Kindergarten, parents are asked to provide information from their child’s preschool/childcare centre, if one is attended.
Age
For Kindergarten entry, the School has set a ‘cut-off’ at the end of the month of May. (NB Government schools have a ‘cut-off’ at the end of July). The School deliberately takes a cautious approach, preferring that children have every chance for a confident start in Kindergarten. There tends to be a ‘grey area’ for dates of birth from January/February through to May. The School uses a ‘brief assessment’ to help determine if a child, with a birth date in one of those months, is ready to start Kindergarten the next year.
The School is also open to considering a younger child ie. a date of birth after May, however such a situation would, if deemed appropriate, be an exception to the normal procedure.
